Second Ultrasound

We had our second ultrasound last Wednesday to see how the baby is doing. Casey had to work, so Mom went with me. The baby looks so big compared to the 10 week one! Everything looks really good. They even are able to look at all 4 chambers of the heart and we watched it beat. They asked if we would like to know what the baby is and we said we are going to wait. The ultrasound tech said the baby was moving so fast she could hardly take a picture of it! There was no way we would have been able to find out the gender! The baby weighed in at exactly 1 pound! :) The end of December is our next appointment and they will run some blood tests, etc. We continue to pray everything goes well...only 17 weeks to go! Keep us in your prayers and we'll keep you updated! Hope you enjoy the newest picture of our baby! (It is a side view of the baby's head).

No School!

There are a few new posts on here. Pretty cool, huh? I had a little extra today because school got canceled. We have one day built into the calendar, so we won't have to make this one up. This is only the start of the snow season, though. I'm sure we'll have plenty of others. Cara and I went to lunch, Sam's Club, etc. If the roads were so bad why were we out running around, right? Things are warming up and sloshing down by now. I felt pretty cool chomping through the snow in my all wheel drive Subaru. Tater had fun running through the snow as well. He's taking a nap right now, though. All that fun will wear a dog out. I hope all is well with everyone.

Thanksgiving

Cara had to work this Thanksgiving, so we went to her grandma's in Decatur once she got off work. Those Kuhnles know how to party. We went to Grandma and Pa's on Friday to hang out with them and the rest of the clan. It was good to see Brian again. He and Kent gave G&P their Christmas present early: Nintendo Wii!

We went out with Mom and Robert on Saturday and celebrated her 50th birthday Japanese style at Takaoka. We had a good time watching them cook up our dinner at the table. The guy was making fun of Cara because she wasn't eating her vegetables. They even served a birthday sherbet with a sparkler.

Mary Kay Party

It's true, there is no party like a Mary Kay party. Cara hosted a holiday party last weekend that seemed to go rather well. I'm not exactly sure about the Mary Kay end of things, but I do know that the cookies were delicious. Tater had a great time greeting all of his friends as they came by. He was very excited to see all 3 of his grandmas on the same day.

With the party came our Christmas decorations. Cara got the tree up and decked it out all by herself. Now I need to do my part and put up some lights outside. I may just stick with a few lights on the porch and forget about the angel that sits in the yard. We had a mishap last year involving Mom, Tater, and the angel. :) I'm not completely certain I'll get them up this weekend, but that's the goal.

I just finished grading my last batch of essays at 10:30 last night. Grades have to be in by 3:30 today, so it was crunch time. Next week is going to be great, though. We went to school on Veteran's Day so we could have Wednesday off of next week. Woo-hoo! It's going to be a much-needed break. We start reading Julius Caesar when we come back, so I'll need to make sure I have everything together. Four more weeks after we return and it's Christmas break time again. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. Let us know how things go.

News

Sorry it's been a while since our last post. I let school, gigs, and lessons bog me down. I recently stopped teaching guitar lesson at B-Sharp to free up some time. I was having a hard time juggling two jobs, gigs, and trying to see my wife a couple hours out of the week. I feel better already.

Baby plans are going well. The heartbeat was right around 155 tonight. It's still pretty high. Does that mean a girl? We'll have to wait and see. Cara has really been popping out lately. It seems like not much progress will be happening and then BAM! Her stomach pops out another couple inches. Cool stuff.

I've been looking around for a new car since our baby news. As much as I love the Geo, it's not really conducive to car seats and strollers. We found a Subaru we liked over the weekend and went for a test drive on Tuesday. Cara started wheeling and dealing and we got them to go quite a bit under the Kelly Blue Book price. It's an '05 Subaru Outback with 58,000 miles. It doesn't have a sun roof or leather, but the CD player and seat warmers are nice. It also has a programmable rear view mirror so you don't have to worry about a garage door opener. I though that was kinda cool. It's going to be weird driving through a parking lot and not setting off car alarms because my car is so incredibly loud. You think I'm joking, but it happened with the Geo. I hope all is well with everyone. Let us know how things are going.

Pumpkins and Spooks

I hope Halloween was fun for all. I finally got around to carving my pumpkin last weekend. It's probably a good thing I didn't get to it the weekend before. It hasn't been a week yet and it's already getting soft. I was thinking about doing something stupid, but I settled on the classic triangle-eye pumpkin face. A good choice, I think.

As a rule, Carroll High School does not allow staff or students to dress up for Halloween. This year they decided to make a fund raiser out of it. Anyone who dresses up pays two bucks, which goes to help pay for the medical bills of a student who had a serious growth removed from his optic nerve. What a great opportunity to help the cause and wear a chicken suit all day. I've been looking for an excuse to wear it to school. My students thought it was pretty cool. I got my fair share of odd looks (from students and faculty), but it was worth it. The best part was wearing my Chucks underneath the chicken feet. One teacher wore her regular clothes with a sign that said "Nudist on Strike." I also liked the art teacher's costume. She's the one on the right dressed as a bag of leaves.

I had another gig a couple weeks ago with the new trio I've been playing with. Dan, the guitar player, is a friend of mine from town who used to play in the Brown Bottle Band and the Trainhoppers. I met Brandon, the drummer, in the music department at IPFW. I have a lot of fun playing with those guys. This is a small clip of us playing Revolution by the Beatles.

Random photo/video

Hey, all. Cara is starting to pouch out a little bit. Other than that, no new baby news. She had her second appointment last week, and everything seems to be going as planned. Here is a picture of me and two other teachers as lumberjacks during homecoming week. Check out those boots! I also took a small video of Tater trying to play with a baby bird learning to fly. Don't worry, nobody gets hurt. Only six more months to go!

25th Birthday!

Well, my 25th birthday was this weekend and we had a blast! Casey and I were able to have the whole weekend to hang out and do whatever. We started Saturday at Cindy's Diner for breakfast here in Fort Wayne, then headed down to Indy. We decided to go to the zoo for the day. We packed a little picnic lunch and spent the day there. We then checked into our hotel at the circle and headed out for dinner. We met two friends at a local restaurant and then off to the Jazz Kitchen to see The Bad Plus. We had a great time and awesome seats right in front. The next morning we just walked around downtown together. What a great way to spend your birthday! On another note (about the baby), our next appointment is October 3rd. Casey won't be able to be there, but my mom is coming with me. Pray everything continues to go well. We'll keep you posted on any new developments!

Baby's First Photo

We had our first ultrasound on Thursday! We were able to see a big head (just like Uncle Corey), dancing arms, and feet. We also heard the heart beat, a whoppin' 188bpm. It was really cool to see movement; it made things seem a little more real for us. Our next appointment is scheduled a month from now. Cara's doing great. A little tired still, but no more nausea. Tater's doing great, too. We'll keep you posted on any new changes! :)

Count down...

We have 3 days until our first appointment! Casey has taken a half day off from school to be there. We can hardly wait to hear the heartbeat for the first time and possibly even do an ultrasound. My belly is definitely growing. We are continuing to take weekly pictures...Casey wants to make a flip book! Haha! We'll keep you posted after our Thursday appointment! Say an extra little prayer everything goes well! Love you all!

7 weeks and counting...

We are now 7 weeks and counting. This weekend was very exciting for us. We decided we would tell our parents the news of their first grandchild being on the way. We went the Babies 'R Us and bought small, animal rattles and on each tag put, "Baby Stansifer, Due April 4th". When they opened their packages, they freaked out! Everyone was surprised! Now we are anxiously awaiting September 6th for our first appointment. We will keep you posted on any new news!
